My Secret Garden Creations, Kingdom by the sea

Another review today, this time I was head over heels in love with Kingdom by the Sea from My Secret Garden Creations. I loved the preview so I didnt even care to read the description and grabbed it on sale!

Download went smooth, the kit has beeen split up in 4 zipfiles, and there is no unneeded or double junk added to the folders, way to go!

The description of the kit in store:

Full of fantasy and imagination, this kit includes 14, 12×12 papers, jpg format at 300dpi. Papers are a mixture of plain and textured, textured patterns and background images of water/ocean and old stone walls. Also, included are 36 elements in png format which contains the following: dragon mermaid tails stone doorway/frame vines jeweled swirls stones ship butterfly sea shell netting with fish hanging fish knights helmet knights sword rusty lock and key treasure chest, one with sand and jewels and one empty jewels twirled ribbon old, jeweled frame cluster frame with wiring flowers All elements are created and saved at 300dpi. This kit is ok for personal and scrap for hire use.
My own thinking of the kit:
This kit is surely full of fantasy and imagination, allthough that awesome wave paper would be excellent for a surfer page, and I can see a beach page in the page with the caves and water. The elements that are present in the kit are okay. The rusty lock and key are awesome and so is the fishing net. But I also think that there could have been so much more in this kit, with a little edge of sand, some bubbles to go with my mermaid tales, and some more fish and shells, a canon even maybe to protect the kingdom. It is truly a nice addition to the fantasy kits I have and I’m certain some items will be used more often.
To let you see the possibilities I made 2 pages, 1 fantasy and 1 swimming, you got to love that underwater camera and an always smiling girl!
Allthough I do not think this kit will make it possible to fill an entire album, I do believe it has some awesome elements, the lock and key, and the treasurechest are my favorite, and well let’s not forget about that dragon. Another thing I like is that this kit is S4H friendly ūüôā
I think if some more time and thinking went over this kit, it would have been better, cause I truly believe the designer has the skills to develope more, maybe an add-on *yes it’s a hint*!!!
All in all I got to say the quality is good and that is what we’re after so I can only tell My Secret Garden Creations that she did a great job, and thank you for making these awesome designs for us!

Miss Tiina, Splendor Pop – The Whole Thing

I’m so¬†happy to make my first kit review. When I saw the reviews from Carinpixels, I was really excited about it. I mailed her, we talked about my interest in doing some kit reviews too. And here I am, on this brand new Kit review blog, working as a team with Carin. And I think she did a great job, starting up this blog!

Why I want to review kits? I love to discover new designers. I have seen some very different kits passing by, doing some CT work. I have no particular style, and willing to try out very different things. Although I will leave the fantasy kits to Carin, she’s really great with them! I have seen kits from¬†starting designers, that are so wonderful and so well worth the money, that I had to shout it out somewhere…. And I just found my shouting place!

To kick off, I want to review Splendor Pop – The Whole Thing, by Miss Tiina.¬† A while ago I started a thread at DST to find me some 1 dollar kits. This kit was one of the suggestions, and I’m really happy I discovered it. So I registred for the store, went real smooth, bought the kit, went even smoother and I got to download at least 9 different zip files, corresponding with the different things (alpha, paper, embellishments, word art, …)¬†that are gathered into this whole package! Downloading and unzipping went just great!

The splendor of beauty; for yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision, but today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness ‚Äď unknown

Splendor Pop brings you sheer happiness with its bright and bold contrasts! This collection is perfect for every project! Black on white, white on black, colored cardstock paper packs and fun elements full of brilliance will leave you with an endless variety to mix and match for Wedding, Anniversary, Love, Friendship and much more!

Splendor Pop can be purchased in whole or in part, click the image above to see the details of this whole collection or visit my store listing for individual sets! Note: By purchasing The Whole Thing! for only $9.00 you will save $13.00!! Buying this collection individually would cost $22.00, so grab this up and save! (note: I got this as a bargain in a 1 dollar sale on 16/03/2009)

The entire collection is designed at 300dpi quality and either in .jpg (12x12in papers) or .png (individual files) format and it includes: 6 white on black patterned papers, 6 black on white patterned papers, 8 solid textured papers, 40 piece set of button funk (5 styles in 8 colors), 11 piece set of flower funk, 12 piece set of elements (including 3 tiny bows, 3 ribbons, 2 felt hearts, 1 felt flower, and 3 ribbon flowers), 172 piece alphaset (characters a-z 0-9 , . ? ! & { } in 4 colors ‚Äď white, blue, green, red), 3 12x12in flower funk overlays with a bit of texture in .png format, 12 word stamps in .png and .abr format (words include: always, bride, celebrate, forever, friends, groom, imagine, kiss, life, love, together, wish).

My first impression of the kit

I can’t believe I got all those goodies for just 1 dollar! There are bargains out there! Also the different packages really tickles me to try all those things in a page or two or …! I love the idea of black and white combined with some strong colors. The cardstock is really beautiful and great for blending a picture. I did miss a plain white and a plain black cardstock in the set. I was really in love with those word art stamps and I think it’s great to get the alpha in 4 different colors! Making a page went really easy, I was inspired by all the different things in the kit and after making two pages, I still don’t feel I’m finished with this kit! I still want to make some pages with this really great Alpha and those very good extracted ribbon flowers. So, this is a very versatile kit and could be used for a whole photo album for sure!

You can see I have made two totally diffferent pages with this kit – One page about the love between a brother and a baby sister! The other one about our city trip in London, where my hubbie and I had a break from routine and did some sightseeing!

I really don’t know what I can add more than saying: CONGRATS for this supergreat kit! Thumbs up for Miss Tiina!

Edit : I got this message from Miss Tiina, she added the black and white solids to the kit! I also saw that she redid her preview, which is great also, and the kit is still available for 1 dollar!

Teri’s Thing O-My-Jigs, Soccer’s a kick

Yup, Soccer’s a kick. My boy plays soccer, almost 8 years now and I still didnt discover the kick of it. When he was 6 we stood along the field at 8 in the morning on saturday, what a blessing. Everyone told me that when he would get older the times will be later during the day. Well he’s a C player now, and still not later, last week we had to¬† round up at 7.30 cause we needed to play out at another soccer club, oh the joy of parenting. But Jeroen loves soccer, Dh has been his coach and trainer for 6 years now, so DH has 13 kids amongst his wings. Anyways when I saw the announcement of Teri’s Thing O-My-Jigs Soccer’s a kick I just had to pick it up.

Checkout went great, but I missed download links in my order after payment. I did receive an email with the download links, but my downloads still are not displayed in my order history. Maybe a shop glitch. But well download went fast and rapid, and it was great to see that the TOU and previews are not divided in every zip file.

The Description of the kit in store:

Soccer’s A Kick!¬† And if you didn’t already know that, you will,¬† if you use this perfectly put together Sports Kit from Teri’s Thing-O-My-Jigs.¬† Created for her grandson, Teri made sure that each and every unique element would be just the thing for scrapping those priceless photos.¬† And talk about variety!¬†¬† From the perfectly textured papers, with many of the overlays being designed just for this kit, to the always unique elements Teri seems to create, Soccer’s a Kick!¬† is one that you don’t want to pass up.¬† Be sure to look for her coordinating, custom made overlays of the same name.

Soccer’s a Kick! includes:
14 papers
   Punctuation &
47 elements including:

2 asst. chipboard elements
1 border
1 bow
3 buttons
2 chairs
3 signs
4 asst. flair
1 folder clip
2 frames
1 grass
1 jersey
2 journals
1 leaf
1 mesh net
3 ribbon
2 ricrac
1 rubberband
1 star
3 stickers
1 string
7 tag strips
1 paper tear
1 metal waterbottle
1 wrap binder

My Own thinking of the kit:

Yes the papers are of great texture. The grass paper and the paper of the field are surely my favorites, There’s a lot of variety in colors and patterns and that is a big plus. The wordart strips that I did not use are wonderful I love the fact that there’s an empty 1. The old sign elements look perfect and I did use 1 of those in my layout. However most of the elements seem to have an epoxy sticker effect and the buttons seem a little fake to me. They have an outer bevel edge that does not attracked me personally. My favorite element in this kit is for sure the net and the field journal board, they are both amazing and I am certain they will be used more often for my soccer layouts. The shirt I used is from the kit, but I recolored it to fit my boys team colors, and that was a very easy job.

Here’s my layout with this kit, and I think it’s gonna be a 2 pager. I do not see myself making an entire album with this kit, but 4 different pages must be possible. And between the other soccer kits that are out there, this will make a great addition for variety and mixxing and matching.

journaling and credits page:

Playing soccer is your passions for a long time. You can play all positions and always do your best during matches.

Design to Create, Joelle Designs, Wonderland

I was fortunate enough to be in Joelle’s 1 kit call for her new kit Wonderland. Another fantasy based kit that looks wonderful!

The description of the kit:

Full scrapkit “Wonderland”

Great kit with 12 Rich papers 3600×3600 and 56 Elements PNG

All created at 300DPI

I have no idea how fast the store or downloads are in this case, since I got my files through another way.

However I feel it is a bit of a minor description for the kit, but it is totally right. The papers are truly lovely, allthough I wished there would be some nature papers in it, cause the elements are surely fit for a wood scene or cloudy dreamy scene! The elements are flawless and pretty. Some are a bit tiny, and could have been bigger, but they are not TO tiny so you cant work with it.

Here is my layout with the kit:

Another well done designed kit, with a designer that is worth checking out for sure!

Joelle 2 thumbs up for you, great job, I loved working with your kit.

greets Carin,

And here’s another sample layout from Ilona, who has worked with the kit as well. You can leave Ilona some love in this gallery.

The papers are versatile, some clear papers and some wonderful nature scenes to create gorgeous pages with. The elements are all nice and again flawless and very versatile. Some nature leaves, a little bridge, but also rocks, animals and a water splash.
